Abstract

The role of corrective feedback in foreign language learning in general and in academic writing in particular has been discussed for many years. However, there are many different contradictory ideas regarding the role of corrective feedback in foreign language learning and teaching. Therefore, this study attempts to cover almost all the different contradictory ideas regarding the issue and then analyze them critically by referring to their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the author suggests some guidelines that can help both teachers and researchers to have a better understanding of the role of corrective feedback.
