Abstract

The goal of this paper is to look for an approximate solution of linear integral equations by truncation hat function basis using the Galerkin method, in which the approximate solution is sought in a nite dimensional space. The Galerkin equation or the variational form for the equation is solved by reducing it to an equivalent nite linear system where its solution gives the hat coecients and thereafter the approximate solution. The convergence and the error analysis of this method are
discussed. At the end of the paper, we illustrate this method by numerical examples and compare it by others methods.
