Abstract

Nano material is an important field in world of science and technology. In this work, activated carbon,
carbon nanotube and metal chalcogenide thin films were discussed. Activated carbon has been
prepared by using different raw materials under carbonization and activation process. Several
activation agents such as KOH, NaOH, zinc chloride, phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid have been used
to improve texture properties and generate better adsorption capacity. The obtained carbon could be
served as adsorbent to remove pollutant, dyes from wastewater because of high surface area and
high porosity structure. Metal chalcogenide thin films have been synthesized through various
deposition techniques. The obtained films could be used for solar cell, sensor device, laser device and
optoelectronic applications. Characterization of different types of thin films was investigated under
various tools. Carbon nano tube has been investigated by many researchers due to good mechanical
strength, environmental stability, resistance to corrosion. It could be applied in Ethernet cable, USB
and coaxial cable.
