Abstract

The study aims to assess the knowledge and awareness about anemia among Female Health-Care Professional Students in Tamil Nadu, India.

A cross-sectional study was carried out in Tamil Nadu between December 2021 and February 2022. A well-organized questionnaire with 20 items was created using Google Forms. Details such as socio-demographic, awareness, and knowledge-based questions are included in the Google form. The correct answer was marked as aware, while the incorrect answer was marked as unaware, and the percentage was converted. The completed data was gathered, entered into an excel spreadsheet, and the results were analysed using the appropriate statistical method. A total of 340 responses were received, with only 50.52% of female health-care professional students aware of anaemia and 72.83% having adequate knowledge of anaemia.

Female health care students showed a marked lack of awareness. This study strongly recommends that health education be made available, which can be done through recurring educational interventions including webinars, CME programmes, and role-plays. This might help develop a secure tool to increase knowledge and awareness.
